Bad Ischler Bahn genannt, verband als Schmalspurbahn mit 760 mm Spurweite von 1893 bis 1957 den Kurort Bad Ischl im Zentrum des Salzkammergutes mit der Stadt Salzburg. Die Marktgemeinde Mondsee war über eine Zweigstrecke bei St. Lorenz an die Hauptstrecke angebunden und der Wallfahrtsort St. Wolfgang über eine bahneigene Dampfschifffahrtslinie von der Hauptstrecke aus zu erreichen. Die SKGLB, die im Dampfbetrieb auf 66,9 km Streckenlänge bis zu 2,15 Millionen Fahrgäste im Jahr beförderte, wurde 1957 als erste Bahnstrecke von nennenswerter Länge und überregionaler Bedeutung in Österreich trotz starker Proteste aus allen Bevölkerungsteilen eingestellt. Eine bereits projektierte Elektrifizierung wurde nicht realisiert. The engine shed of the terminal station at Mondsee is the only preserved engine shed of this line. It has been converted to a museum about the line and its history and contains a collection of original vehicles, photographs and a model layout of the SKGLB's Mondsee branch. The line was privately owned firstly by the Bavarian company "Lokalbahn Aktiengesellschaft" known as LAG.
