平川 典俊（ひらかわ のりとし、1960年11月27日 - ）は、日本の現代美術家、写真家、コンセプチュアル・アーティスト、パフォーマンス・アーティスト。1988年より作家活動を開始、1993年に渡米。以降、ニューヨークに拠点を構え、アメリカ、カナダ、ブラジル、オランダ、フランス、ドイツ、ベルギー、トルコ、インド、日本など世界各地で300回を超える展覧会において作品を発表している。
, Noritoshi Hirakawa (平川 典俊, Hirakawa Norito … Noritoshi Hirakawa (平川 典俊, Hirakawa Noritoshi) (né en 1960 à Fukuoka) est un artiste contemporain, réalisateur et producteur japonais. Hirakawa travaille avec divers médias dont la photographie, les performances et les installations. Il vit et travaille à présent à New York. Les photographies de Hirakawa sont décrites comme « érotiques et intimes ». Affirmant que « la révolution sexuelle est terminée et les puritains ont gagné », le travail de Hirakawa défie les conceptions traditionnelles de la sexualité et l'hypothèse que les expressions du désir hétérosexuel mâle sont oppressives et objectivantes. Ses photographies d'architecture, comprenant de façon inhabituelle des modèles au premier plan, défient le spectateur pour qu'il s'interroge sur le sens de l'architecture sur la vie urbaine moderne. En 2005, une performance in situ intitulée In Search of a Purple Heart, utilisant des fragments d'entretiens de vétérans de la guerre du Vietnam cités par les acteurs partiellement nus, est décrite comme une « intense compilation d'atmosphères » dont l'auteur a « l'intention d'infecter les surfaces de séduction qui dominent notre culture [...] avec la pourriture de la culpabilité collective de notre culture ». Noritoshi Hirakawa a exposé ses travaux dans différentes galeries dont le Musée d'art contemporain de Tokyo, le centre Pompidou à Paris, le MoMA PS1 à New York, de nombreuses galeries dans cette même ville, au de Vienne en Autriche, au Art & Public Contemporary Art Gallery de Genève, la Galerie Ferdinand van Dieten à Amsterdam, la galerie Christophe Guye à Zürich et à Cologne. Il a été invité à présenter son travail au SMAK de Gand en Belgique au cours de l'exposition de groupe « Casino 2001 » et au Museum für Moderne Kunst à Francfort, dont son Dreams of Tokyo dans sa collection permanente. Hirakawa works in a variety of media including photography, performance and installation. He was born in 1960 in Fukuoka, Japan and now lives and works in New York City. Hirakawa's photographs are described as "erotic and intimate". Stating that "the sexual revolution is over and the Puritans won", Hirakawa's work challenges mainstream conceptions of sexuality, and the assumption that expressions of male heterosexual desire are oppressive and objectifying. His architectural photographs, unusually featuring prominent models, challenge the viewer to consider the meaning of architecture on modern urban life. In 2005, a site-specific performance entitled In Search of a Purple Heart, utilising fragments of interviews from Vietnam War veterans quoted by partially nude performers, was described as an "intense compilation of atmospheres" whose author was "intent on infecting the seductive surfaces that dominate our culture [...] with the rot of our culture’s collective guilt." Noritoshi Hirakawa has exhibited his work in a variety of galleries, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, the Pompidou Centre, Paris, MoMA PS1 in New York City, multiple galleries in New York, Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna, the Art & Public Contemporary Art Gallery, Geneva, the Gallerie Ferdinand van Dieten in Amsterdam, the in Zurich, and in Köln. He was invited to present his work at the SMAK, Ghent in Belgium during the group-exhibition “Casino 2001” and the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt included the work “Dreams of Tokyo” in its permanent collection.
