O professor Henry Jackson sugere que a obra tenha adquirido esse nome porque os dois rolos em que é dividida teriam parecido maiores na estante, em comparação aos oito da Ética a Eudemo (Ηθικά Ευδήμεια), apesar de esta última ser duas vezes maior.
