Pierwsza olimpiada szachowa niewidomych została zorganizowana przez IBCA w 1961.XI Olimpiada Szachowa Niewidomych została rozegrana w 2000 Zakopanem.W 2004 Polska zdobyła I miejsce w szachowej olimpiadzie niewidomych.
