Heinz Billing (Salzwedel, provincia prusia … Heinz Billing (Salzwedel, provincia prusiana de Sajonia, Imperio alemán, 7 de abril de 1914 -4 de enero de 2017) fue un físico alemán y pionero en la construcción de sistemas de computación y almacenamiento de datos. Su computador G1 (abreviatura para Gotinga 1), puesto en servicio regular a dos turnos el 1 de noviembre de 1952 en el Instituto Max Planck de Física, en su día en Gotinga, es considerado como el primero ordenador electrónico en Europa continental y el primero sistema equipado con una memoria de tambor en el escenario mundial. Después de un traslado a Múnich en 1958, el sistema se mantuvo activo hasta su desguace en el 1965, solamente el tambor se rescató y se ha exhibido en el Deutsches Museum. El tema principal de su investigación física es la detección de ondas gravitacionales.
