Weiterhin wurde über Sondermaßnahmen Rechen- und Speicherinfrastruktur zur Verfügung gestellt, um einen reibungslosen Übergang zu einem Gridbetrieb ohne Beeinträchtigung des aktuellen Infrastrukturangebotes zu gewährleisten. Die D-Grid Projekte ließen sich in Gruppen Basisdienste, Höhere Grid-Dienste, Akademische Disziplinen und Kommerzielle Nutzer unterteilen.linen und Kommerzielle Nutzer unterteilen.
